Do you know who Jackie Robinson is ? If you don´t know who that is, he´s a African American  pro baseball player. Actually he was the first African American Pro baseball player. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He proved that he was a superstar. Robinson was very annoying to the pitcher. He creep toward second base. the pitcher throws back he dives back he´s safe. He gets in the pitcher's head so he´s thinking about Jackie. So when he throws to home plate he throws the wrong pitch. Jackie Robinson was an inspiration to other people.                        One of those people were Willie Mays. Willie Mays is known for his over the shoulder catch. It was the first game of the world series. It's the eighth inning 2 to 2 game. 2 men on, Vic Wertz hits a shot to center field. Mayes is running and he makes the catch. Willie Mays played for the New York Giants. The new york Giants moved to San Francisco. In San Francisco Mayes hit 49 homers and drove in 141 runs. In San Fran the Giants Won a pennant but they beat out the Dodgers. In 1965 Mayes got a MVP award.

I think Jackie Robinson's story is one of my all-time favorites! He overcame a lot through his journey and has given a lot of people interest in baseball!

I cannot believe the odds black baseball players had to overcome during this time period. Have you ever heard of "The Curse of the Mays?"
