Read-A-Likes
Module 6

Are you looking for something different to read?  Have you tried reading books written in verse?  I like them because they usually have fewer words than a traditional novel and are written as series of short poems.

Clap When You Land is currently on my book club's list for Battle of Books.  It is a book I really enjoyed reading because of its diverse characters, interesting story line, and unique writing style (verse).  I highly recommend it!  If you enjoy it, you should also consider reading or listening to these other titles written in a similar format.

Award Winning Novel
Non-Fiction

Module 1
Slater, D. (2017) The 57 Bus. Farrar Straus Giroux Books for Young Readers.

What started out as a teenage prank ended up being a crime with some serious consequences.  The 57 Bus is a true story that took place in Oakland, California, in 2013.  It won the Stonewall Book Award in 2018 for its telling of an LGBTQIA+ experience.  I don't typically read non-fiction books, unless I have to for school, but this book was recommended to me by a friend.  I was hooked after reading the first chapter!  Click on my book talk video to learn more about this incredible real life story.
